Now, before any hardcore fans attack me for saying anything, I just want to make a quick disclaimer: I’m merely trying to understand what the big deal about this whole thing is.
In case you didn’t know it yet, this (quite honestly) ridiculous term is a portmanteau of the titles of three popular TV shows: CW’s Supernatural, BBC’s Doctor Who and Sherlock. How these shows are related to each other to make a cross over is beyond me. The only similarity I can discern is probably that both Doctor Who and Sherlock are aired on BBC and have the same writer; that’s it. Like, plot-wise? Nothing. And it’s not just these three; sometimes you get other major fandoms absorbed in the mix like The Avengers, Harry Potter, Merlin, Hannibal, and many more. Crazy, right?
Usually I wouldn’t bother with these kind of things. Let people enjoy what they enjoy, right? And crossovers are fun. (Remember That's So Suite Life of Hannah Montana?) But I’d be lying if I said that this whole SuperWhoLock phenomenon doesn’t get annoying sometimes. Some instances:
…How they have a “gif for everything”:
Like, okay, we get it, your fandom’s the best, no one can compare, whoever says anything wrong about it will be cursed to demon/time lord/detective hell or something, blah. And these guys get super self-righteous sometimes, claiming their fandom is superior to the rest and all that crap. Seriously? Are we still in kindergarten, fighting about who has the best toy? Grow up, honestly.
I apologize if I might have offended any fans out there, but really, just chill. No one’s judging you for liking these shows; they’re only judging you when you get all up in people’s faces about it, trust me. Like what you like and respect other people who might not like the same thing and something else. Then we can all coexist and be fans in peace, okay?
