These days, more networks are now open to creating and producing shows where homosexuality is more prevalent; which is a big step on advocating the LGBTQ+ rights. Last April, MTV launched its brand new show Faking It which features probably one of the first of its kind to have an eccentric and interesting storyline about gay teens.

The show tells the story of two presumably straight best friends who pretend to be a lesbian couple to gain popularity at their high school. Karma (played by Katie Stevens), the mastermind of it all, wants the attention of the hottest guy in school, Liam Booker (Gregg Sulkin), and so she figures this would be the best way to achieve her goal. Liam then has feelings for her in return but can’t act them out since he knows that Karma is in a relationship. But the real problem is with her best friend Amy (Rita Volk) as she starts to truly fall in love with Karma. She seeks help from Liam’s gay best friend Michael while she figures out whether she’s really pretending or not.

Faking It has definitely drawn much attention since it first aired. The show has been picked up for season two and comes back on September 23 with bigger and more controversial episodes. Especially with what happened in the last episode, you definitely want to know what happens next.

      SPOILER ALERT:
Last episode, Amy confessed her love for Karma but is rejected and Liam finds out that they were both just pretending to be a lesbian couple. So Amy is left all alone at her mother’s wedding and Liam ends his relationship with Karma. Amy and Liam both meet after the wedding reception and ended up having angry sex with each other.

       Intense, right?

This show will you leave you laughing and frustrated all at the same time, so you better catch up before it returns tomorrow!

Gone Too Soon

Lots of TV shows have come and gone, but there are some that just left too soon. Some end after (or even before) just one season because of  low ratings, bad reviews, lack of interest, and a lot more factors. But with these shows, it was a good run for them. They had loyal fans, they were interesting but alas, cable networks just didn't think they were up to par with the rest of the other shows. Here, let's take time to appreciate the shows that were great while they lasted:

FREAKS AND GEEKS

Teenage life lived by your regular freaks and geeks of the 1980's. The show revolves around siblings Lindsay and Sam. Lindsay and her friends are labeled as The Freaks while Sam and his friends are The Geeks. The Freaks and The Geeks are realistic yet not boring and lovable characters that portray a very real high school life.

JANE BY DESIGN

Jane Quimby is a high school student. Her best friend, Billy, is secretly dating the girl who's been mean to her since the 7th grade. Jane's brother works as her school's assistant sports director. She was also mistaken as an adult and now works in her fashion dream job at Donovan & Decker. It's not easy juggling her secret lives in high school and in high fashion especially when both those lives come with their own set of challenges.
(PS- JANE AND BILLY FOREVER.)

MY SO-CALLED LIFE

My So-Called Life talks about 15 year old Angela's life. The show dealt with numerous social issues like child abuse, homophobia, bullying, etc. It doesn't sugarcoat teenage years but instead shows the diffulties, struggles and confusing parts of being a teenager. Also, young Jared Leto??

ALCATRAZ

"On March 21, 1963, Alcatraz officially closed. All the prisoners were transferred off the island. Only, that's not what happened. Not at all." Whaaaat? What actually happened was on that day in 1963, prisoners and guards disappeared without a trace only to return present-day unaged and with no clue of their whereabouts since that time. So comes the shows trying to track down all the other prisoners and figuring out where they've been since that time. It's an interesting story of a not-so-prison break, too bad we don't get to know much more about it.

TERRA NOVA

It's the year 2149 and Earth is overpopulated. But scientists discovered a way to go to a parallel world where life is sustainable; only it's in the Cretaceous period and it's called Terra Nova (Latin for "new world" or "new earth")
