Don't You Forget About Him

“Oh my god, it’s that guy from The Breakfast Club!” Yes, Anthony Michael Hall is that guy from The Breakfast Club.

He’s also known for his geeky role in Sixteen Candles, his super hunky but douche baggy role in Edward Scissorhands, and for being part of “The Brat Pack” along with his TBC co-stars.  Anthony’s career skyrocketed in his teens while girls swooned over his piercing blue eyes (look at those babies), but come to think of it...that was roughly 28 years ago. You might be wondering what in the world is he up to now, and it turns out that his acting career isn’t over yet.

Hall plays Mr. Hart, the cold-hearted and slightly terrifying creative writing teacher in Season 3 of MTV’s Awkward. His addition to the cast makes the show even more exciting as he makes his class [including Jenna] write about some pretty intimate topics about themselves that later on are revealed in succeeding episodes.

The 45-year old actor was notable for his earlier roles as the awkward high school kid and everyone probably remembers him by that reputation up to this day. He probably never would’ve guessed he would end up playing a teacher in the future, but this just gives everyone a whole new different perspective on his acting. He’s doing an awesome job playing a sadistic teacher, by the way.

Awkward is currently on a mid-season break but MTV has announced that the show will be back for its second half of the third season on October 22. You know what that means? More creative writing homework and shirtless Matty McKibben!

Improv All The Way!

It’s fucking back!!!! Whose Line Is It Anyway? has finally resurfaced after its last episode in 2007 and it’s rejoined with some familiar faces.  Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie, and Ryan Stiles are back at it again with celebrity guest stars and recurring cast members as they give us the most hilarious improv games to ever face television.

If you have no idea that this show ever existed, how dare you. This is the funniest show I have ever seen on TV. I’m not so sure if this year’s season will ever live up to the old version with Drew Carey as host though. In my opinion, the 1998 version was funnier.

This year’s show comes with new games, new celebrity guests, and a new host. Aisha Tyler is presenting Whose Line this year but I don’t think the guys will have the balls to insult her as much as they did with Drew.

The last time I saw Drew with the gang was in Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza back in 2011. Now I gotta tell you, this show tops Whose Line Is It Anyway 2013 and maybe the old version too (oops).  Not only did all original cast members appear, but also the recurring cast (including Jeff Davis and Chip Esten) were regulars too.  This show not only had more hilarious games, more cast members, and more running time, it also had a massive audience participation in almost everything. This made the show even funnier as people give (or fail to give) suggestions for scenes that the cast will have to act out; but of course all good things must eventually come to an end. After one season, Drew Carey announced that his show will no longer be airing more episodes.

For those of you (including myself) who are unable to watch these shows on TV, the Internet is our saving grace. Episodes/segments of Whose Line and Improv-A-Ganza are uploaded on various channels on YouTube.

Now, I want all of you to watch them, come back here, leave a comment, and tell me that I was right when I said that they are hilarious (and tell me if you think Jeff Davis is cute too because I think he is).
