If you're not part of this fandom, or is just about to go into this very dangerous road ahead, here are some of the things you may want to know about Directioners. (Because once you're in the fandom, there's no turning back.)
1. Larry Stylinson
Let's starts with the most controversial thing in this fandom -- Larry Stylinson. There are basically two sides in this fandom, the Larry shippers and the non-Larry shippers. Larry Stylinson is basically the shipname of Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. What started out as a harmless bromance during the boys' X Factor days, turned into one of the most debated topic between the fans. If you go on Tumblr and search for "larry", you WILL NOT see a picture of a lobster from Spongebob. No, what you will probably see are numerous edited (and non-edited) pictures of Harry and Louis together (e.g. kissing, having sex, them looking "lovingly" at each other, etc.). You will also see a bunch of masterposts explaining their theory of why Larry Stylinson is real. Which actually do make sense, if you ask me. The members of One Direction had already denied it plenty of times, to the point that they've said that the issue has ruined Louis and his girlfriend's relationship.
To a Directioner, a carrot is not just a vegetable. It's actually a term for all the "fake fans" who "do not have a place in the fandom". (Yes, believe it or not other people can choose whether you're worthy enough to like a celebrity and be in their fandom.) Originally called "Directionators", they are the people who act like they know the boyband and the things currently happening in the fandom. They can also be the fans who are stuck in the 2010-2011 era of One Direction. Meaning, they are those who say the overused terms and phrases like "amaZAYN" or "Niall ate my bio". "Carrots" also take things too seriously, which leads to intense hating. They're basically the ones who give the fandom a bad name.
The trick to being a "real" Directioner is that you keep things under wraps. This means that, you can be a proud Directioner, but do it in a manner that's not embarassing and in a kind of cool way. A few things to remember: 1. You can only wear merch that does not look like merch, a.k.a. the merch that actually has updated pictures of the boys 2. You can't wear merch in public, unless you're going to a concert or any 1D-related event (e.g. album/book signings, album launches, meetups, etc.), and 3. It's best to have a fan account because most people don't want to see you fangirling over 1D and see all of your 1D-related retweets (and sometimes this is a mutual thing). To be honest, I don't know why this is. Also, not following the first two, can apparently make you a carrot.
4. Anything's possible.
These boys can probably do anything they please. I mean, social media + teenage girls + hormones = world domination, am I right or am I right? With a fanbase that large, anything can happen. Why do you think One Direction won so many awards? It's because of the dedication their fans have put into voting on Twitter and on every other website they need to vote in. The only time One Direction would lose is if they were in the same category as Beyoncé. And because Directioners are everywhere, they can do almost anything. They can leak songs, hack into systems, track where each of the members of 1D is. They can build their own CSI if they want to, basically. Never underestimate the power of a teenager.
5. Rumors? What rumors?
Directioners are just done with rumors. If there's one thing they have learned it's that rumors are rumors, and things will remain that way until one of the boys (or one of their friends or family) confirms it. There have been so much rumors in the past that they're already so used to it. They can smell bullshit.
