Being an up and coming local band, She's Only Sixteen is definitely taking the Philippine Music scene by storm with their countless gigs (did I mention that they performed on the main stage for the 7107 IMF this weekend?) and their witty personalities.
Get to know the band more in this exclusive interview:
Roberto: We started the band 3 years ago; we were just having fun and then we got serious.
Andrew: We like what we do and we want to keep doing it cause we see that lots of people like it.
Roberto: What inspires us to move further is our love for the music.
Who is "She"? Is she still sixteen?
Roberto: Sabi ko na nga ba eh. *laughs* Wala, there's no reason.
If your music was a pizza pie, what would be its toppings?
Roberto: It wouldn't be Hawaiian.
Anjo: That flavor has to die.
King: Looots of pepperoni.
Roberto: Not so much.
Anjo: We're more of a hunger buster...
Andrew: Isn't it Belly Buster?
Who are your musical influences and what are you guys currently listening to?
King: Lego Wrestler
Anjo: St. Vincent & the Grenadines
How do you juggle your school work with band duties? Was there a point wherein you felt too much pressure?
Roberto: Well I failed an exam awhile ago...
Anjo: Well in general, it's not too hard to handle cause we love what we do and we're doing it for fun. It's not something we're pressured into doing.
King: And it's very scheduled like way before pa.
Roberto: We all reply to each other on Facebook.
What is your creative process like? How do you come up with lyrics and melodies?
Anjo: Buti na lang laging nasasaktan si Seña...
Andrew: Usually si Seña nasasaktan.
King: And that's a good thing.
Roberto: Basta malunkot ako may music.
Andrew: And we're happy with that.
Roberto: Usually I write a lot of it and I show it to them and we arrange it together.
Andrew: Sometimes we record our voices wherever we are.
How were you guys as teenagers?
Everyone: Anjo was fat.
Since this month on Reinvent is all about "Babes", do you think you're babes?
King: Babes? I'm more of a baby.
Anjo: We're okay.
Roberto: We cater to all targets: dark and exotic (points to himself), chubby na matangos ang ilong (points to Anjo), super exotic (points to King), tapos mabait (points to Andrew). Depende kung anong trip mo sa buhay.
What's next for She's Only Sixteen?
Roberto: Packing. For the weekend.
Roberto: Write more songs I guess.
Is there anything you would like to say to all the teenagers out there?
Anjo: Stay in school, be yourself.
Roberto: Do what you want.
Anjo: Push yourself to the limit.
Roberto: Do what you want cause in the end, dapat ikaw ang masunod. Smile more.
What album is currently on repeat?
Andrew: The Virgins.
Roberto: Wolf by Tyler the Creator.
Anjo: The Blueprint 3, Jay-Z.
Would you rather have giant hands and small feet or small hands and giant feet.
Anjo: Giant feet and small hands.
Roberto: Small feet and giant hands.
Andrew: Small feet and giant hands.
King: Small feet and giant hands.

Anjo: This I Promise You by N'SYNC.
Roberto: My Boo by Usher and Alicia Keyes.
How do you like your potatoes?
Roberto: I like 'em twisted... twisted and soggy...
King: Very, very baked...... with cheese and bacon...
Anjo: In any way. Mamahalin ko pa rin siya.
Our short chat with the band gave us a glimpse into another world that apparently, is not so different from everyone else's. This down-to-earth and hilarious group of men are living proof that as long as you do what you love and you do your best, there's no need to worry wherever life may take you. SOS is definitely one band you do not want to miss.
Thank you so much Seña, Andrew, King, and Anjo!
