Angélique is not only an award winning artist (that's right, she's won a Grammy!), she's also a humanitarian that helps organizations like UNICEF and the Mo Ibrahim foundation. She has helped spread the word on controversial topics by writing and performing songs, while her advocacy is to raise awareness for problems relating to health and education in Africa.
The late Miriam Makeba, also known as Mama Africa, was another Grammy award-winning artist from Africa. She was also a civil rights activist who was actually exiled from South Africa for 3 decades for campaigning against the apartheid. Despite this challenge, she continued to make legendary music while supporting various causes until she passed away on November 2008.
2Face, or 2Baba, is ranked as one of the best African Musicians of all time. Even though he is one of the most successful hip hop artists in Africa, 2Face never forgot to reach out. He established the 2Face Reach Out Foundation to help promote peace and in 2009, he became an ambassador for the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control. Not only did he win numerous music awards, he was also presented with the International Youth Ambassador for Peace Summit and the Nigeria Youth Merit Award by the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
