This month revolves around ‘Stereotypes’, and what better movie to show that off other than one of the most epic coming-of-age films in history? Contrary to popular belief, not everyone likes The Breakfast Club. Some may even say that the plot is quite shallow and over the top considering that the characters have only met each other on the day of their detention. I guess it may be true in some aspects, but The Breakfast Club isn’t dubbed as the “quintessential 80’s film” for no reason.
So you have the typical jock, the typical rich girl, the typical nerd, the typical rebel, and the typical freak; you put them all in one room and you’ll have yourself a whole different kind of mess...but what do they all have in common? They all got issues. They might come from very different backgrounds and cliques, but being alone together in a library for nine hours made them the best of friends each of them could ever have. Why? Because they realized they weren’t that different after all.
