1. Forrest Gump (1994)
Forrest isnʼt exactly an intelligent man. This movie tells us about his struggles with life and love from his childhood all the way to his adulthood. Throughout all the twists and turns he faces on his journey, overall, his story is one thatʼs sure to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
2. About Time (2013)
An average guy is presented with quite a peculiar family heirloom - the power to travel back in time. He uses this power to smooth out all the mistakes his awkward personality drives him to commit, including his efforts to win the heart of the girl of his dreams. A beautifully arranged movie about family and love, if I do say so myself.
3. Aquamarine (2006)
Two close friends who are on the brink of a major change in their friendship are brought even closer by a mermaid. Yes, you read that right. A mermaid. Itʼs actually a really good movie about friendship and facing the struggles of growing up, including dealing with crushes and facing your fears, all while trying to keep your legs dry so as not to induce a spontaneous mermaid tail.
4. 13 Going on 30 (2004)
Iʼve seen this movie countless times and I still feel those waves of kilig each time I watch it. At the age of 13, a girl obsessed with fitting in with the cool kids is frustrated and magically wishes herself into the age where women mostly have their shit together, living life as her 30-year old self. Life turns out to be amazing, but she learns that in a rush to grow up, she let go of the things that matter the most.
5. Just My Luck (2006)
The luckiest girl and the seemingly most unlucky guy in Manhattan seem to have swapped fortunes with a kiss. With the help of a continous chase in hopes to win their fortune back, the two fall in love. Itʼs a creatively written romcom that plays on the ideas of good luck and bad luck.
6. Lilo and Stitch (2002)
An unlikely “angel” is sent to a little orphan girl and her family and becomes the stitch that holds them together (wink wink). One of my personal favorite Disney classics. A truly heartwarming story about ohana.
7. Blended (2014)
A blind date gone wrong and a coincidental meet-up in Africa set the grounds for a love story waiting to happen. A woman with two sons and a man with three daughters are brought together through a “blended familymoon.” Things are awkward at first, but it turns out that Lauren is the mom that the three girls need, and Jim is the dad the two sons never had.
8. Cheaper by the Dozen (2003)
Hereʼs a fun movie about a huge family struggling to adjust to a new life. This was my favorite movie to watch as a kid. Despite their fair share of sibling rivalry, middle child syndrome, teen rebellion, pranks, and knack for causing massive mayhem, the Bakers are a team. A classic feel-good movie about family that will make you smile.
