From famous pop stars to classic actors/actresses, impersonators have done them all; and because of the large number of people in the business, there is actually a so-called Celebrity Impersonators Convention held every year in Las Vegas. I would seriously love to attend one soon and count how many people are dressed up as the same celebrity.
Speaking of which, have you ever wondered who are the most impersonated celebrities ever? Well these three are probably on that list:
It’s pretty obvious, don’t you think? And who doesn’t love seeing a good Elvis impression? Fun fact: In 2012, Porthcawl Festival garnered a world record for having the most Elvis impersonators in one gathering. How many do you ask? 814 Elvis Presleys. I’m pretty sure most Elvis impersonators are middle aged men but have you ever heard of David Thibault, the 16 year old singer who sounds almost exactly like the king himself? No? Well you better listen to him now.
Yet another king who is loved by many. Michael Jackson is probably one of the hardest to impersonate since who could ever dance, sing, and look exactly like him, right? But Kenny Wizz and Navi come close and that doesn’t stop hundreds of other people from dressing up in glamorous suits and fedoras.
Have you ever heard of the story where the actor himself entered a Charlie Chaplin look a like contest and lost? They said he didn’t even make it to the finals. Now I don’t know about you but that says a lot. Chaplinitis spread all over the world ever since the silent film star broke out and it’s been almost a hundred years but because of the legacy he has left, it would be hard to ever forget about him.
If I were an impersonator, I'd be a Shakira one. Though I don't look like her or even dance like her, I do a pretty good voice impression. If you could only hear me sing "Whenever, Wherever" then you'd be amazed (half-kidding!).
