The Singapore Grand Prix is a three day event which is the first racing event in Formula One history to feature night racing. It's called an event and not just a competition because it's not all about the actual sport; they also offer off-track activities which include Karting Training Programs, exclusive Pit Lane tours, and concerts showcasing at least 3 performers every night. Another thing to look forward to are the infamous parties that happen after the actual racing.
As the name suggests, this annual event takes place in Singapore. More specifically, at the Marina Bay Street Circuit which is the first street circuit in Asia. It passes several landmarks like the Singapore Flyer and has the most number of corners compared to other circuits (that's 23, if you're wondering.) While the concerts and other off-track affairs occur at the different "Zones" located near the tracks. It has been a yearly event since 2008 and occurs on the third weekend of September.
Aside from being able to see the expensive and gorgeous cars being driven by equally gorgeous drivers on a modern track, you'll also be able to watch international acts! Yup, one ticket not only allows you to see the racing action firsthand but you also get to watch amazing acts such as Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Shakira, and Linkin Park just to name a few. You can even mingle with the racers during the day (there are special gatherings that you could compare to meet and greet sessions with your favorite band, but better.) If you're a die hard racing fan from Asia but you can't travel to Europe then this is the perfect way to get your F1 fix! It's closer to home and you might even have a better time considering all the other activities that accompany the races!
You can get your tickets and other packages here. If you're a first timer and you do attend this year (or the following year), here are a some tips to make your trip more enjoyable:
1. It can get really loud in the grandstands so wear earplugs!
2. Always wear your lanyard pass (with the correct day!) and appropriate clothing since it's usually warm and humid, even at night.
3. Plan your trip around the city/track and make sure you have a map so you don't get lost and end up wasting your time.
