There is no doubt that the internet loves pretty pictures, from google-ing *insert thing you’re looking for* + tumblr to #aesthetic + the filters that go along with it. So it comes to no surprise that Instagram has been ruling the lives of these picture perfect obsessed people.

So for all of those who aspire to have these picture perfect moments plastered on to your feed here are 3 tips for a better IG feed!

UNIFORMITY

By uniformity we talk about your photos being cohesive to your feed. The best way of doing this is to try committing to a certain style like using one or similar filters for your photos. Think about which you prefer more, light (@meohmygirl) or dark tones (@mimi_brune), vivid (@kisforkani) or less saturated (@s.tio), mostly black, white, and grey tones (@kristykwho) or lots and lots of color (@taramilktea).

Another way to make your IG feed uniformed is to try to commit to a certain subject like books (@divergent_gryffindor23), art (@abbeysy), food (@food52), nature (@helloemilie), or random stuff (@flatlays) but these are usually done for blog accounts that always post thing related to their specific blog topics.

VARIETY

It’s important to know that uniformity doesn’t contradict variety. Variety aims to make your feed interesting and not predictable by putting a vast range of things for the followers to view. If you chose to arrange your feed by style be keen on not posting things like sunsets or buildings consecutively. Try transitioning from broad to detailed, allowing to see atmospheres then seeing little elements that create a space (@oraclefoxblog, @anddicted). If you chose to commit to a subject try to view it in different angles and try not to use the same subject consecutively (@wiktoriabanda).

HAVE FUN AND DON’T FORGET THE REAL WORLD

Always remember to care about our feed not because you want everyone to like it but because having a good feed makes you happy. Your photos shouldn’t be examples of unrealistic and filtered moments of life instead think of it as curated and documented moments in your life using the most accessible form of art to us all, photography.

With these tips your feed would be fool proof. Now go forth and spread the double taps, Instahoes.
