Ana Kras is a 29 year old photographer hailing all the way from Serbia. After graduating from an art school in Belgrade, she moved to the US where she quickly got recognized for her unique and eccentric works of art. Ana is definitely more than just a pretty face as she is also a furniture maker and an illustrator. She's an undeniable multi-talented artist.
Her furniture line includes what she calls BonBons which are one of a kind lamps hand crafted by none other than herself. It is amazing to think that even with all the things that her work demands from her, she still puts so much effort in each piece of art she creates. Ana is certainly someone to look up to because not only is she very passionate, but she also remains grounded despite her prominence.
I read a post on Facebook which said that it is believed that there are two kinds of photographers: the one who clicks perfection and the one who clicks imperfection; but in reality, there is a third kind. The post explained that the third kind “combines perfection and imperfection to form an image of somewhat confusing clarity. An image that is breathtaking on the surface, and just gets better as you travel deeper into the thoughts of the photographer, through his mind”. I believe that Ana is a shining example of the third kind.
In 2011, Ana was assigned to visit folk singer Devendra Banhart’s home in Los Angeles to photograph him for a European magazine. After meeting each other, the first thing Devendra said to her was, “Will you marry me?”. Despite her saying no, she never left his house. The two have been together ever since and are currently engaged.
If that does not make you want to curl up in a ball and cry, then I don’t know what will.
