Ever since the Spaniards invaded the country, they have introduced chocolate and they have been enjoyed by Filipinos since then. It’s only appropriate that I make a list of the best chocolates according to our culture. Yes, the list may involve chocolates that are pasalubong from your Mom or Titas or something you bought from the tindahan near your house or from the canteen at school. These chocolates are not entirely the best in the world. But you have to admit it, one of these or two may have saved yourself from the sudden hunger more than once.
10. Flat Tops
The first on our list and it’s so cheap! I remember my mom telling me once that it was once curly tops but people preferred the flat ones.
Ahh, these babies with the caramel stuff inside that sticks to your teeth and make you feel they’re rotten after removing them carefully.
The one with raisins, almonds, fruits and nuts or just the plain ones. Heaven on a Sunday afternoon.
As the saying goes, “It melts in your mouth, not in your hand.” They certainly haven’t eaten the rainbow colored sunshine here in the Philippines because after seconds of getting a handful of them, the color melts in your hand.
6. Choc Nut
A lot of rip offs may have been presented over the years there’s nothing that would beat the old and reliable choc nut.
5. Ferrero Rocher
You should try buying these on your allowance and you’ll find yourself lost. You can’t just buy yourself a Ferrero, your boyfriend needs to give it to you! Just kidding.
Their tagline works. Grab ‘em when you’re hungry.
2. Cloud 9
The classic Cloud 9. The localized version of Snickers. And finally,
1. Hershey's Chocolate Bar
I think you’ll agree with me that nothing beats the classic.
