Cronuts™. One half donut, one half croissant. Amazing isn’t it? Two individually beautiful dough-based treats put together to create a new craze around the world. But only one man can make an actual Cronuts™, due to copyright reasons: Chef Dominique Ansel.
His creation was not a simple drunken accident like many hybrids in the food scene. It took him 2 months and 10 recipes before he perfected the recipe for the Cronut™. According to the website of his bakery, the process of creating one takes up to three days. (x) Now you understand why he makes a minimum of 350 Cronuts™ a day and why you can only buy a maximum of two. New Yorkers actually line up at least two hours before the bakery opens just to grab one. It became so in demand that a black market for Cronuts™ spawned in New York. Scalpers would sell them for $100 each, while its original price is at $5.
