LUCKY BLUE SMITH
In a way, we also want to draw attention to how fashion is becoming more conscious about racial representation. Of course, there are many other young models of different ethnicities flourishing in the industry that aren't featured on this short list; whom should also be appreciated greatly (i.e. Sherita Dehon who is half Filipino and half African-American). Though sometimes fashion will still deliberately feature people of color for the sole purpose of not being called on for the lack of diversity and the way they represent them is still not ideal. For instance, the ratio of black models to white models in a runway show is still quite problematic. Most, is not all, runway shows still have a sky high percentage of white models. Hadley Freeman from The Guardian says that although black as a color of clothing is so prominent among designers, black as a color of skin is still striving to be part of the fashion mainstream. And this also goes to show with all other ethnicities.
So go ahead and celebrate all the model babes out there!!
