Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking. Meryl Streep's character from The Devil Wears Prada may have a point when she commented on the less than avant-garde idea of using floral prints during the warm seasons. However, it doesn't mean that tropical prints are out of style or will ever be out of style. In fact, they're almost considered as timeless pieces and you can't really ever go wrong with tropical prints, now can you? From high-fashion brands like Giorgio Armani to more affordable brands such as Mango and Cotton On, tropical prints are everywhere. They can range from coconut trees to palm leaves to plumeria flowers and even flamingoes! And the best part of this nature inspired trend is that they can add that fun and fresh twist to any outfit.
Tropical or floral prints work on everybody on any day. Just don't overuse it because unlike denim, print on print may be a little too hard to pull off. So remember to pick a key piece and work around that trendy tropical clothing (or accessory.)
The trick to wearing tropical prints in a more formal way is to pick a print that's not too eye catching. Something with subdued colors and simple patterns will work the best.
