Just recently, she joined the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as one of their voices in raising awareness about the needs and issues of refugees. Last summer, she was sent to one of the camps in Ethiopia and was reunited with her parents after 16 years. "I am so honored to be joining this extraordinary group of people to raise awareness of the IRC’s work around the world. It was an unforgettable experience to travel back to Ethiopia with the IRC and be an active part of their lifesaving work and reunite with my parents for the first time since I moved to America.” (x).
It’s almost rare to hear about fashion models trying to make a difference in third world countries which they were once part of. Luckily, Nykhor Paul has brought attention to her cause for other people to realize that they too should try to help make a difference in the situations of refugees in Africa as well as in any part of the world.
