Fashion and body image standards have evolved [and is still evolving] throughout the course of time. Luckily in this current era, society is more open-minded compared to the past. There is still that "skinny body standard" among most people but women of all shapes and sizes are starting to become appreciated and respected more. There isn't as much pressure to look or dress a certain way today, and that means you also have the freedom to dress however you want. Unfortunately and evidently, societal standards were different before. And these standards were reflections of not just their culture but also the way people perceived women.
VICTORIAN ERA (EUROPE)
SPANISH rule (philippines)
HAN AND TANG DYNASTY (CHINA)
1920'S (NORTH AMERICA AND EUROPE)
For all those who are still disappointed that they weren't born in classic eras like the 20's or 60's, don't be. Because in retrospect, you wouldn't have much liberation over your fashion choices then than you do now. Be thankful you were born in the 21st century!
