That's why inventions and thoughts like those fall under the genre science fiction. Unfortunately, emphasis on the fiction.
But let's move on to something more familiar. And I'm very proud to say this but what is considered to be the very first legitimate science fiction piece of literature in history. Mary Shelley's ground breaking work Frankenstein (let's get one thing straight: Frankenstein is the Doctor not the creation) or The Modern Prometheus introduced to the world the classic "mad scientist" motif.
She claims the story came to her in a dream after a night of discussing about reawakening the dead. As a horror story, Mary Shelley writes a gruesome monster that is made out of dead flesh, human and animal, that is yet to walk again on earth. However, she also writers a cautionary tale to us humans who dare outdo ourselves in our endeavors of innovation and ingenuity. This of course being seen, spoilers, when the creature murders the beloved of Victor Frankenstein.
